We plan & plan for months, then in a blink of an eye,  New York Fashion Week is over * big sigh*.   I guess that’s what adds to the mystique.  I know I had a blast with the shows I led, at Oday Shakar, Lan Yu, Laurel Dewitt, Area NYC & Rodarte (more on this later *wink, wink).

Graphic shaping, matte textures & touches of metal, were a few nail trends that stood out this season (along with a beautiful array of colors), that leave me wanting Spring to hurry up and get here already!!

Nail Color

Spring nail colors will range from warm pastel pinks to deep, smoky shades and with metallic sheens winning, ‘the most popular girl in school award’.

Nail Art

Nail art continued to show it’s minimal side,  with a few exceptions (I’m looking at you CND !), making it eazy peazy, for the DIY’ers, to recreate the looks at home.  As an industry Veteran, (with discriminating taste), there were a few looks that really stood out to me, all demonstrating an exquisite attention to detail and execution….. each designed of course, by the Industry’s TOP Nail Pro’s !!

Jin Soon Choi, for Jin Soon Nail Lacquer,  created this matte look for Vera Wang.... a look, reminiscent of a Serg Lutens image, that I love!

Naomi Yasuda for China Glaze, created this sporty, multi color,  manicure with an edge,  for Opening Ceremony.

I love the use of bright colors, swooped on the neutral base, that Gina Edwards created for Tanya Taylor using Morgan Taylor. (Taylor squared!) Matte Top Coat made it that much cooler!

Alicia Torello’s two-tone block manicure using Christian Louboutin Nail Lacquer, was a fun compliment to the Novis Collection.

Avant Garde

CND, more known for their editorial nail looks for fashion week, created many looks for Libertine. This one I found very interesting. Guest Artist for CND,  Lavette Cephus, designed this look with spinning parts…soooo fun !
